That is TOTALLY wrong. What you need to do is count from the first day of your period to the next day of your period... then, count back 14 days and this will tell you when you are ovulating. When you are ovulating this means your body has released an egg to be fertilized. If your body has done this it allows the sperm to get together and make a baby.
When you are on your period, the egg and all the lining in the uterus is being released. It is almost impossible for you to get pregnant during this time. The sperm needs and egg, the egg needs the lining of the uterus to get embeaded into in order to start growing, produce a placenta and nourish the embryo.
Try an ovulation kit, this will explain to you when the best time is. Some women have longer cycles but the general consensus is if you count from the FIRST day of your period to the next first day of your next period and count back 14 days. You usually ovulate 2 weeks before you have a bloody show, a period.
Google this, ovulation, pregnancy...this will confirm this.

There is no chance of conceiving during your periods as the lining of the uterus is being removed during that time.
The best time is around 13 days into your cycle as your egg is released around 14 days into your cycle and the sperm can be fertile for around 5 days.
You can use a thermometer to check and chart your temperature to see when it goes up, which it does when ovulation has occurred. You can chart this for a few months and time your sex to ensure there is fertile sperm waiting for the egg to release.
There are usually reasons if you find you cannot conceive, so consult a specialist if you have problems. 50% of conception failure is due to male sperm problems, which are more common these days due to the chemicals we come in contact with.
I had problems conceiving and it was due to being in contact with diesel fuel. Taking a course of clomid tablets prescribed by the specialist enabled me to impregnate my wife, so much so I eventually had to get a vasectomy.

There are only a few days a month that a woman can get pregnant. That is near and during the time of ovulation. Ovulation can occur any time of the month including during her period. If your partner and you are trying to get pregnant, I suggest that she learn about her cycle, learn how to chart for ovulation and that you only have sex on the days near and during ovulation. That way you will have a maximum number of produced sperm to release and get your partner pregnant.
Typically ovulation happens mid-cycle, but this isn't always the case. That's why I suggest that your partner chart her cycle and know when she's ovulation as it could just so happen that she ovulates during her period or soon before or after.

well as a doctor i will tell u one thing...the chances of getting pregnant will depend on each and every women our there...but it is commonly said that having sex and to become pregnant during period is less...its said mainly because...the chances of bleeding during periods is common...and chances of semen going out is also present..when a girl is having very low bleeding the chances of semen getting out of the uterus is less when compared with woman who have big bleeding...But in a recent study show that only 19% of woman wont get pregnant during periods remaining 81% would certainly become pregnant....

the least chance is on her period but its still possible to get pregnant then, there is no time when a woman cannot get pregnant so dont ever have sex without a condom, unless you want kids.

A woman should only be able to conceive when she is ovulating that is not when she is on her period though. As always precautions should be taken regardless unless you are trying to conceive, if that is the case they sell tests at the drug store that tell you when you are ovulating.

That is absolutly false. The 14th day of the cycle is the most fertile day of the average woman's cycle. BTW The first day of your period is the first day of your cycle.
