Duh! Keep the pet rock in the house if it is going to be that bad. Leave a note for the neighbor and offer to have the pet rock fix the window.

Whenever my pet rock jumps out of my hand of its own volition and hits someone's window/car/face/etc., as a general rule, I don't leave a note and I try to recover my pet rock, so no one finds my prints on it and blames me for my pet's willful act.
