Installing limewire is not illegal. If you download any copywritten file, such as programs like "Adobe Photoshop, Windows XP, etc." or songs that have been made by anyone other than you, it is definitely Illegal. Watch out, the RIAA is sueing people who have lots of copywritten files. You could face six years of jailtime, and a **** load of money to payback.

One thing you can do though is go to

www.Opera.com and download their webbrowser, which supports a thing called a Torrent.

Then, to find a Torrent you should use Opera to go to www.thepiratebay.org.

ThePirateBay is currently protected by swedish law, and they are not saving search queries. You probably wont get caught using Opera. There is a chance youll get caught using Limewire

It depends on where you live...

I'll just assume it's somewhere in Canada or the U.S.

In both countries, it is not illegal to download limewire. Limewire is simply a peer-to-peer filesharing program. Sharing files in itself is not illegal, it's the content of the files. We'll assume you're like most folks, and using limewire to download copyrighted files. The law is different in both countries.

U.S. - If you download ANYTHING copyrighted from limewire, then it's illegal.

Canada - Downloading copyrighted music is ok. Software, movies, etc is not.

This is what you do...
Download limeWire, which is legal, then download LimeWire Pro from LimeWire. LimeWire Pro costs money if you buy it but you can illegaly download it and use it. Once you have it, delete the regular LimeWire from your computer and now you just have LimeWire Pro and no one will catch you for pirating music.
genius plan thought up by my friend and I did it and it works great!

Installing LimeWire is not, in and of itself, illegal. However, you must be sure not to download any copy-protected files.

Technically, through Limewire (Since you have to agree to these terms before you download it), you're "Filesharing"

Filsharing isn't the same as pirating, however... it's still not looked highly upon. :P
