i was just wondering if the universe may take on a common center of mass, such that spae-time is bent around it causing it to be closed like a giant sphere. Furthermore could this somehow show how space between massive objects appears to expand?

Space expands like dots on a balloon or raisins in rising bread. As far as we know, there is no way to find any sort of center since the big bang exploded from a singularity, and everything that exists was in that singularity. So everywhere is the center so to speak.
