I'll start by asking the question - Why do you "have to drive the car" (to work)? Is it convenience? Is it distance? Is it another reason?
If you "have to" drive because of distance, then you might consider finding some co-workers, or people who work close to where you work and start car pooling. If it is a matter of convenience, then choose not to drive in another section of your life - ride a bike, or walk. If your driving is part of your job, then make the choice (either personally, or through your employer) to switch to a vehicle with better fuel economy.
Having said all this, be aware that there is a middle ground in being 'environmentally conscious'. Think long-term, become aware of the options available to you, and the environmentally friendly choices you can make in your lifestyle. There is no need to resort to environmental extremism, and you certainly need not feel guilty about making choices to support yourself and your family.
Awareness is the first step, and you can choose your path from this day forward for an environemtally better future...

All of us feel guilty but we all expect someone else to find solution to erase our guilt. Would you stop using paper just because they are cutting down trees? We , as individuals, have to come up with our contributions too. We can plant trees. ( In the southern state of India , in the month of November 2006 , one million saplings were planted, thaks to one organisation. ) In singapore 90% of population use underground train to go to work. High taxes and toll on road useage discourages car users.
smarter countries such as the USa discourage poouting induatries and get all the manyfactured goods from China and the other countries. But , little do they realise that China or Ecuador, the pooluting gases go up to ONE SKY.
Self discipline is the only way.

Necessity is the mother of invention. As and when we truly realise the need to find an alternative which would not pollute like this, I am sure the invention will happen ....... and I believe the day is not far off because like you, all of us have begun to understand this problem and its seriousness!! Feeling guilty without being able to address an issue is not advisable ...... we have to repose faith in ourselves and hope rather than be dismayed!!

it is the same CO2 that you exhale with each breath. CO2 isn't causing international warming. that is a lie from environmentalist. They even faked the temperature to make human beings imagine there change into warming. So savour your CO2 pistol. do purely not shoot your eye out.

I would suggest that all people who worry about polluting the air when driving their cars--especially gas guzzling SUVs--stay off the road. If they did, I wouldn't be stuck in traffic so often and would thus be polluting the air less with my car.

Don't worry. Scientists are doing something about it...may take years though.
ln some countries, cars powered by electricity are increasing. lt will be the next "in" thing.
Just continue taking care of Mother Earth (planting trees, segregating trash, etc.)and we will see results little by little.

wake-up stop being an environmental wacko. Man is a drop in the bucket, when it comes to influencing what goes on. No matter what changes occur life will adapt. probably newer life forms will become the endangered species in eons ahead of us instead of behind us. Enjoy life, pollute and in time your remains will fertilize some dandelion.
