The only word i remember are like 7 or 8 seconds of the word "whoa". The pitch starts low then varies from low to medium then goes higher at the end. Whooaa Whoao Whoao Whoao WHOA Whoa-oa. This is probably the worst descripton ever but it might click with someone. This has been killing me for months.

Edit: Its a rock song. I heard it on 80s flashback on 97.5 WABB in Mobile AL. They play it in some 80s sports movie(s). The verse sounds kinda like phil collins but i cant remember the words.

And also, the "Whoa" part is continual. The singer never stops singing.

Also, the "Whoa" part is continuous. The singer combines them into one perpetual whoa that doesnt stop.

Now you got me interested in this stupid song! "Things Can Only Get Better" by Howard Jones, album "Dream In Action" 1985. The video was shown quite a bit on MTV. Never paid much attention to Howard Jones when he was releasing his songs, just remember the song was very annoying. Is that the one?

Lunatic Fringe? It's by a band called Red Ryder or Rider, can't remember how they spelled it.

Good Luck.

If the song you're thinking of has a female vocalist, then you're probably thinking of "Back on the Chain Gang" by The Pretenders.
