Smoothley! thats the key. ive currently written a song with a very simple (cliche) progression:

C - Gm7 - Am

Its not in that order, I go from the C to the Gm7 and add the Am in every once in a while. I know its simple but I have a really nice hook with this progression, any ideas on how to spice it up? Maybe go into a minor key? I dont really understand how that works. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks a lot. Rock on guys =)

try a bebop G, i know it may not be jazz but you add a flatted 3 and keep a natural third so you can ride on the minor feel but then go back to major G Bflat D F and GBDF mainly just fool around drop thirds and sevenths add sixths it's all about what you like

C major is related to A minor, so you could easily slip into a minor. Try going [C], [gm7], [B7], [E7], and then [am]. That might sound pretty cool. But I'm too lazy to actually pick up a guitar right now, so it may sound like guano, I dunno....

maybe try staying on Am, going to Em7/Dm7 or something.
