Because they are so pampered and fussed over, the thought of going through one of the worst pains ever is too much for them - they prefer to have their abdomens cut open - crazy!!! Also, they want to PLAN it, the time, the day etc, and have a tummy tuck at the same time - Having a C-section has no baring on retaining your 'figure', but obviously having the tuck at the same time does - but most of them are ignorant and self obsessed - nothing compares to having your baby 'naturally' as it should be - a C-section should be the last resort, decided by a medical professional. The pain of a natural labour and delivery is terrible (for me it was anyhow), but the immense joy you have once they hand your baby to you is so overwhelming, the pain goes away immediately, and you feel such accomplishment at having 'pushed' your baby out into the world!! I'd hate to be so shallow as to choose to have a C-section, just to avoid the pain of a natural birth - every cut to your body is a risk, including something as seemingly straight forward as a C-section - these women, and the doctors carrying out their selfish requests, are pathetic and totally irresponsible! But then, most Hollywood stars don't even look after their children, it's just trendy now for them to have children and babies to show to the paparazzi - they think it makes them look like 'good' people. Children are the latest status symbol for the stars!! They all have to have one - either naturally, or better still, by adoption from third world countries!!!!!!!!!

They think they are too special and the public eye will not like them anymore if they are seen with stretch marks. It could also be that they are not cut out for the pain associated with child-birth and therefore pick a c-section as they see it as the only other option for them. In my eyes all women should have a natural childbirth for the experience of bringing a child into the world and by having a c-section they are taking away from the whole experience of having a child. However this is only my opinion and since I have not yet had a child I am not really in the right place to say. I am also not dissing those that do give birth to their child through c-section as some women have medical issues that might endanger themselves or the babies life.

I hear a lot of jealousy amongst your answerers here. If they had the money, you bet, they would opt for caesarian section (including yourself). Why suffer if you don't have to. You wouldn't have your tooth yanked out without an anaesthetic first, would you? (well it is a much simpler operation, so perhaps not the best example). Having a c-section and a tummy tuck straight after is a fantastic thing and can take a lot of pressure off young mums. I think in the future this will be common, you will have to 'opt for a normal birth' and I think that's great but we have to wait for a number of years for that to happen. However, if you have about 2 or 3 thousand of pounds saved up, you could afford a c-section somewhere like in Thailand (I'm sure you've heard of this concept before) so you are not totally out of options and YES you are allowed to be a whimp as I'm sure nobody is giving out medals to women who are not whimps and have a normal birth.

I think most of the answers sum it up. A caesarean is defo not the easiest and often can be painful afterwards. But celebs do it because:
* They can pick the day and time
* They can do it a month before the baby is due - thus ridding themselves of the last month when many women balloon/get stretch marks etc
* It is seen as a pain free option (although not true according to my friend!)
* I suppose for a similar reason it would be quicker than a natural labour and birth therefore less inconvenient
* They can have a nip and tuck afterwards and no-one will know.....

Excuse me, I think it's up to every woman how she will deliver her baby. I don't know what you're after with a question like this. I find most of the answers insulting, because my mum was 40 when she had my brother and she had to have a c-section and 16 months after him she had my sister by c-section again. And that stuff about not bonding with your baby is just rubbish, it's some kind of excuse or what.

If someone is making an attempt to stay away from discomfort with the aid of having a c-section, they're an fool. I had a c-section and it hurts. I also had 20 hours of drug loose puzzling paintings before that and that i'd take the puzzling paintings lower back over yet another c-section any day. they do no longer purely make a decrease and pull the child out. They decrease with the help of your dermis, your belly wall, your abdomen muscle communities and then your uterus. you want your abdomen muscle communities to bypass, in the experience that they are decrease its no longer undemanding to bypass have self belief me. C-sections aren't to any extent further as reliable for the child, little ones born with the aid of c-section may have extra respiration complications. with the aid of how in case you dont opt for to sense the discomfort of puzzling paintings thats what epidurals are for...assuming you're waiting to take on the negative aspects of having one...

I think Anne's answer is right, I don't think they are wimps because think of all the cosmetic surgery they have, there must be good reason for this and I would bet a tummy tuck is what they're up to. Then they bring out a fitness video on how to look good after giving birth.

They are sex symbols, and they don't want that part of their body damaged by childbirth, even though they will have a scar, that can be covered up, but an operation to strengthen their insides is a bit more difficult, and no guarantee of success.
If I had the choice, I would have a c-section. I don't believe a woman should suffer in pain, in the act of childbirth. We go through enough pain in our lives without that as well.

I saw a documentary on this question its basically a vanity issue concerning weight.
Celebrates see c-section as a time for a nip and tuck where their tummies will be re moulded and any excess fat would be taken away from the tummy to allow it to look back to a normal pregnant less tummy within hours of giving birth.
I wouldn't see c-section as being for wimps because it is a very dangerous operation for mother and baby. But it is best if you want to keep your bits from being stretched out.
