I don't know who those people are answering this question but don't listen to them. If you are having an ABDOMINAL HYSTERECTOMY a FULL recovery is stated to be 6-8 weeks!!!!! For a vaginal hysterectomy it is stated 2 weeks. Of course every individual is different. But because if is abdominal and an incision will be made and sutures will be made on the inside of the abdominal wall it needs time to recover. If you start lifting too soon, or doing too much it can take longer for the incision to heal and pull. On the inside, they put sutures, in which after the surgery you will have an increase in discharge because those sutures are dissolving. You may even see small pieces of the suture pass. If you start lifting or doing too much you may cause those suture woulds to pull on the inside and cause some bleeding.

You may feel well withing a week or 2, but remember you are still healing even if on the exterior it loOKs ok. The inside also needs to heal. But do to the increase moisture it takes longer.

Look up on Google ABDOMINAL HYSTERECTOMY. This will tell you for sure. I have worked in Ob-Gyn for 10 years and know how long it takes from talking to patients.

Good luck with your surgery!

As a woman who has undergone abdominal hysterectomy the recovery is a bit slow, I would say between 4-6 weeks until you feel you are your old self again. Don't overdo anything, your strength will increase day by day, try walking abit more day after day, don't lift too heavy things (like a small kid or heavy stuff).
I believe every woman has a diferent capacity of recovery but don't feel despair if things don't work out for you as quick as others might tell you. You might also feel a bit depressed, that is natural too. Good luck.

Recovery is about 4-6 weeks, I had a hysterectomy. I was feeling pretty good after 2 weeks, but the thing is even tho you feel pretty good you still have to be VERY CAREFUL, It takes time to heal inside also..Follow your doctors restrictions..Good Luck!
