That's based on Syd Barrett, their frontman until he had a breakdown from drug use. They said he really did shave his head and stuff, but I don't know why the guy in the movie cut his nipples off, unless he just went right over them with the razor when he was out of his mind (that's when he had the razor in his hand still, right?). If you have the DVD version, their should be a section you can go to that shows an interview with Roger Waters, and he talks a little about it.

I don't recall him shaving them off??? It has been a really long time since I saw the movie though. I thought he just shaved off all his hair. Well he was on a really kickin drug trip at the time, because he just found out his wife was messin around.
