i want to buy a dress form that isn't flimsy so i can create my own designs on them. i went on the website for joanns and i looked at their dress forms but most of the ratings that users give their dress forms are either good for tailoring or bad because they are flimsy and don't do well for designing on. then i went on another site and found good dress forms but they were 500 bucks. where can i find one for a reasonable price?????

I'd try checking the classified ads, you might run across a very good one for sale, secondhand.

Also, if you have a school nearby with a fashion design program, there might be a student/former student who needs to sell their dress form in order to pay bills.

Make it. Get a friend to help. Start out in a good bra and panties. Put on knit fabric to cover you. T-shirt knitting is good. Take about 3 rolls of packing tape and wrap it around you 3 or 4 times.get it good and wet and put past over it. Now you just have to wait until it dries. Cut the back to get out of and repaper the back. Paint it and put felt over it. I took an old hat stand and mounted mine.

Cost about $20

Girl you can go to Dillards and find party dresses and etc for a little of nothing. I know cause I got a dress for a Military Ball for only $17 and I was looking great, it looked more of a cocktail dress but they normally have a selection to choose from.

Heck I would hit the nice department stores and scan the sales right now. SACs, Nordstroms, Macy's - they all carry designer stuff and love to clean house this time of year thru jan. I usually buy my next new dress in Jan and save it for the Dec parties.

Good Luck
