My husband spent our first year of marriage deployed- he's been back for 5 months and is now "in the field" for another month of training. I guess i'm just lonely having moved to a new base away from family and friends and i'm feeling - i guess abandoned is the best way to describe my feelings. I just need to hear some positive thoughts from people because the women I met at the last military wives base meeting seemed too much into the benefits (money, etc) of your husband being gone and there wasn't any talk of how to deal with them being gone

Get a job or find a hobby...You need something to take your mind off being alone. I personally like it when mine leaves, gives me a chance to think of me and not have to worry about him....

Well when my husband was gone I stayed with family. Otherwise my mind would wonder and I would get sad. Mine at least hasn't been away for anything dangerous and not for too long a time. All I can tell you is to keep busy. That's all that got me through. And make sure you ware yourself out each day so you get a good nights sleep. Get lots of hobbies and as much as possible be around other people. That's the best I can tell you.

I travel. I figure if he can travel, why not me? I homeschool 3 kids and take them places and visit family. We have driven all over North America on a budget. It was a blast. We have done it 4 times now. We have visited most of the National Parks and we have even done a 4 month missionary trip to Mexico.
