She lives with a mom that calls her names and emotionally hurts her, but sometimes has even thrown things at her. She moves often and I live a couple states away right now, i'm visiting in 16 days, but is there a way to legally take her away from her mom even though she hasn't hit 18 yet?

Her mom is supposed to be taking medicine, but she OD's on it and ends up not having enough pills to last her for the month.
And I love my girlfriend very much, I could spend the rest of my life with her.

Well, she might be able to get emancipated, but it depends on the state she lives in. She would have to prove that she is dependant on no one. It would also have to be her choice. That's all I have for you... good luck.

No. And her mom is not bad. She's just being a mom. Your girlfriend is a child- she will meet MILLIONS of people that call her names and emotionally hurt her. She needs to learn how to deal and who better that from her own mother than a stranger? And throwing things at her? Come on. I know mom's who strangle their children. Her mom is not being evil, she just sounds like a complainer. All teenagers think their parents are the "worst thing" and "omg I cant wait to leave home..I HATE them..." she needs to grow up and learn how deal with a little name calling and god forbid, the throwing of things her way.

People need to start appreciating things and stop with the constant complaining. NO ONE will EVER love you as much as your mother. NO ONE! Ever. She's just being a teenager, don't do anything, and let her live her life. She will not be babied forever and if she thinks her mom is being mean, I can't wait until she goes out into the real world...

This is a situation that she has to take to athorities on her own. She runs the rick of becoming a ward of the state is there is no one else to take up her gaurdianship. until she is 18 someone has to be responsible for her that is of a legal age. In the end her life can be dramaticly changed. For better or for Worse. Do you want to be resposible for putting her in an even worse situation??? Simple put you are dealing with risk and a person's life, be careful.

Ask her to talk to her mom, if her mom continues to abuse her, have her report to the police. There's no way that you can get her away because she's not even 18 yet. And if you do, that count as kidnapping if her mom report to authorities.

Rob: You can not legally "take her away" until she hits 18 years of age (unless you have a court order to do so.) ! she needs to report her "mother" to her school guidance counsellor, or the cops. This will have mommy dearest aware of people watching her conduct with her daughter. Mommy dearest needs to see a psychiatrist, to help her deal with her issues.

I'm really sorry your GF is going thru this, it's very sad. I don't think if she's under 18 you can do anything. Where is her dad?
Good luck.

If she's a minor, it will be hard for her to get away from her mother. She'd have to involve the police and file a report against her mother for assault.
