i have this friend and she lies all the time.
i asked her how was weekend and she said she went out with friends but it turned out that she didn't even go out.
she said she is close with girls A and B but they both said they don't even know her very much.
even yesterday, she said she invited amy to her house and they watched the movie together at her house but when i talked with amy today, she said she just went to her house to return the book and left immedidately.
why does she lie all the time?
she always pretend to have a lot of friends but everyone knows she has no friend.
is she a compulsive liar or just lonely?

Does she lie about things other than being with your friends?
Apparently she wants you and others to feel that she has many friends (she wants to appear to be "popular" ),because she doesn't want you and others to feel that she
is a loner or has problems relating and being with people. Being lonely is a very difficult situation to face on a daily basis...a person begins to feel inadequate when they look around and see others having fun or in friendships.She is probably lieing to cover up her feelings of inadequacy (or fear that you will reject her if she tells you the truth...that she stayed at home by herself) or
feels that her self-esteem will suffer unless she lies.

To be honest, it is probably that she is lonely and that is why she lies. Usually compulsive liars are seeking attention they feel that they do not have. & the lies are making up for that "in her head"
Maybe you should just spend some time with her now and then, you might do her some good. But if her lies continue and do harm in anyway, like get you or herslef in any kind of trouble, then cut the friendship. But she does need some kind of attention.

She's obviously uncomfortable with the situation of not having many friends, and feels like she has to put on this front to impress people. You could tell her "hey, I talked to Amy and she said blah blah blah" and see what she says. She is probably just lying to try to fit in, just tell her she doesn't need to lie to impress you, and that you think telling the truth is important for friends. What she lied about isn't a matter of life or death, but tell her that you have a problem believing people when they haven't told the truth in the past. But give her a chance--if she does it again, then worry about it.

She doesn't mean to be a liar.
She just wants to paint a picture of herself,
the way she would really like to be.
A friend could help her understand that.
Take her places and help her start building
a real life. It isn't easy for some people.
Introduce her to different people,
and help her make some friends,
by showing her what a real friend is.

Yes your friend is very lonely. Who knows maybe she just gets a thrill out of lying. Ask her why she lies so much.

Poor girl. i think it is probubly a bit of both. maybe she is having a hard time with reality. whatever, she sounds lonely. that would be my guess. sad though because doing this type of thing is only going to push people farther away.

she could be an impulsive liar or she could be trying to impress you. either way she probably thinks very highly of you thats why she has to make up things. just show her that it doesn't matter if she is popular or not. you also have to let her know that her lying is not working on you...but you have to do this gently.

SHE COULD BE A LAIR OR SHE COULD BE LONLEY OR SHE COULD BE TRYING TO TELL U SOMETHING. PPL USUALLY INVENT FRIENDS WHEN THE ONES THEY HAVE ARE LACKING IN BEING GOOD FRIEND IN THE WAY THAT TEH PERSON LIKE. NOW IDK HOW UR FRIENDSHIP IS BUT I HAD A FRIEND LIKE THAT AND I CONFRONTED HER ANS SHE SAID THAT I WAS NOT GIVING HER TEH TIME SHE WANTED. NOW WHILE I WAS ANNOYED WITH HER FOR BEING SO DRAMATIC. SHE WAS RIGHT. NOW I AM NOT SAYING IT IS UR FAULT BUT JUST LOOK AT HOW TEH FRIENDSHIP IS GOING AS A WHOLE.

she's self consious, she lies about being friends with everybody so u will think she's cool, give her a chance she dosen't mean any harm from it, she probally may not relize she does it sometimes.
