I know monitors dimensions (i.e 17") are measure diagonally, and do not always measure the exact veiwing area.

Would this mean a 17" widescreen monitor would then be less tall than a 17"? or does it keep the same height and just widen it (so it wouldnt exactrly measure diagonally)

the measurement on both standard and widescreen monitors is on the diagonal of actual screen space (the bezel is excluded). So you're right, a 17" widescreen is less tall than a 17" standard.

A 17" standard LCD monitor resolution is usually 1280 x 1024
A 17" widescreen monitor resolution is usually 1440 x 900

I actual have on the on the spot extra a 19" TFT Widescreen to my computing device and its super, i might thoroughly advise the guy made for a start up there is a lot extra section on the paintings floor the region formerly the previous style took up particularly some the hollow, and makes use of much less skill plus the image you get is a lot clearer. the call of the widescreen i funds in on is an HP 19" TFT (skinny action photograph Transistor) and has audio kit equipped in to the demonstrate, I actual have been given a CD-ROM disk only in case i necessary the seen demonstrate unit drivers to place in for the widescreen even even with the undeniable fact that it particularly is plug and play, which means all you do is to unplug the previous seen demonstrate unit and then plug the present day widescreen in it has the comparable connections so no longer some thing to be bothered approximately there, then only replace the computing device on and the computing device will reconfigure it self to the present day widescreen, you wont be disappointed. stable fulfillment
