how do you get a free upgrade at a car rental?

you usually have to have a certificate of some kind. or you can join their membership thing..if you have their membership card..you qualify for upgrades. go to their websites and look for membership info and it should tell you about upgrades or you can call them.. I get periodic things from them on car upgrades but I am registered with them..so you may have to. GL...wish I could more but that's all I know

Complain about something...car is dirty, engine makes some sound. But make sure they already wrote up the contract. They're more likely to give you an upgrade since it's easier than writing up a whole new car. Has worked for me several times. Mind you, these were legitimate complaints, I wasn't just scamming.
