I go to the movies for special effects laden movies like Harry Potter, X-Men, then buy the special edition dvd's when they come out. For all other movies I just wait until the dvd comes out and then buy it. How about you?

most of the time i see a movie in a theatre it's because i like the director. i know people who don't care about directors think i'm crazy, but i'll go see a movie directed by a director that i like over a movie with an actor i like any day. often times i'll just go see both of them, but if i had to choose, i'm going for the director. an actor can do a movie and it not turn out anything like they thought it would, and the movie could totally suck. but if you're a big fan of a director and tend to like everything they do, you pretty much know you're not going to be disappointed.

short answer: if Steven Spielberg directed it, i'm there on opening day AND i'm buying the special edition dvd! as for everyone else i'm into, if i don't get to go to the theatre or even buy the dvd, it's not that big a deal to me, just as long as i eventually get to see the movie sometime.

cheers,
Shauna!

Usually if the movie has a lot of action or cool scenes I will make sure that I go to the theatre for it. But I figure out if I want the DVD from watching it in the theatre though.

Definitely wait and buy the DVD. For the price of one movie out (with all of my children), I can easily buy a few new releases.

I usually wait for the DVD. The theatre is nice, but the privacy of my own home and being able to watch the movie in my pajamas is better.

I go to a lot of free movie screenings here in Los Angeles...other than that I USUALLY get the DVD from NetFlix.

I wait until they come out on dvd because I like to relax on my own couch at home where I can lay down or cover up or whatever!

I do both, I go to the movies a lot and I rent a lot...I usually don't buy DVD's unless they are Johnny Depp movies, lol.
