Jewel is definitely the best supermarket because Dominick's is TOO expensive unless they have a special sell which doesn't happen too much

They're both the same. Same products, pretty much the same prices, etc. If you want somewhere different to go try Trader Joe's. Different types of food, many of them not carried by Jewel and Dominicks (I go there for the frozen birani rice - can't get that at Jewel or Dom's). Great deals on nice domestic wines. It's a great store all around. But a lot of people do their shopping at several stores: meat from this place, vegetables from this place, etc. I do that a lot. There is a smaller market near my house that has great meat, inexpensive and can be cut to order, and another place that has the freshest vegetables. It might mean a couple of trips, but if you want the best food, sometimes you have to do it. Besides, I used to work at a Jewel and have bad flashbacks everytime I walk in the door.

I used to think Dominicks, until a couple of weeks ago I went grocery shopping & noticed that some stuff had expired or was set to expire within like 3 days. Jewel is much more fresh & not as big.

Among fruit and vegatabel wholesalers, it is well known that Dominicks has the best produce. Jewel is a definate 2nd compared to the rest.
That being said, I do my shopping at Jewel for the most part due to location. I am happy with Jewel.

I used to think that Dominick's was better, but then I realized it just depends on the specific store. So I don't think you can generalize.
For some things, I would definitely check out Trader Joe's. It's not more expensive and it has some fun alternatives.
Stay away from Whole Foods, it's ridiculously overpriced.

Treasure Island...Jewel and Dominick's are chains...same stuff as everyone else. TI has a much better ethnic foods section...large Thai section.
They are in the city, not the burbs...

Jewel. I remember years ago that Jewel used to drive a van around the neighborhood and sell things from it!

Both those stores are WAY expensive! I'm an avid fan of Aldi's. What I would buy at Dom's or Jewel's, I can get from Aldi's at HALF THE PRICE and with the same quality.
I wouldn't shop anywhere else....

Dominicks is cheaper and has pretty decent variety. For special foods, I like to go to Fox and Obel... So, no need for Jewel.
