I wish people would stop trying to compare these two great players. Their situations coming into the league are completely different. Jordan was the first option from day one, Kobe rode the pine as a sub the first two years+. So comparing Stats will won't give you much. Jordan grew up in a different time and had better mentors in Magic and Bird. Kobe grew up in a league that was "me first" and had who as mentors? I would say that Jordan is the best of his era, and Kobe is the best of his. Just like Wilt was the best of his era, and Dr J was the best of his era, etc...etc...

Jordan Hands Down. The stats say it all
Jordan 9 Year Totals (84 - 93):
Rebounds: 4219
Assists: 3935
Steals: 1815
Blocks: 684
Points: 21541
Bryant 9 Year Totals (96 - 05):
Rebounds: 3209
Assists: 2788
Steals: 912
Blocks: 401
Points: 14034
Jordan's Stats are far and away better.
Plus Jordan's Bulls won 3 championships from 91 - 93 to match Bryant's 3 from 00 - 02. So the main difference is their stats, and the state of the league at the time. When Jordan played it was the height of the league. He went up against Magic, Bird, Stockton, Malone, Ewing, and many more greats. Bryant does not have nearly the competition that Jordan had. He was the best during a time when the league was at its best. So Jordan is the clear winner.

Jordan. He had to take all the pressure. He was the man. He didn't get to ride the back of a bigger star. Now if Bryant can lead his team to another 3 peat, he'll be getting there.

Jordan was the MVP in basketball during his era, offensively and defensively. Kobe wasn't even the MVP of his own team during his title years. Shaq won all three Finals MVP trophies. Kobe has yet to lead his team to a playoff series win since the departure of Shaq.

You can't seriously be asking this . . . Jordan all the way! He at least understood that it takes the whole team to win a championship.
