The question is itself a paradox. Is us really the `supreme state' that it will be open to a downfall? On what grounds? Us is most vocal, that's all, and the time will come when there will be longer tounges. Do not be afraid of china alone, be afraid of a country (it might be any, china or india, or brazil) which will have more things to say to the world, because it has more mouths. Soon the numbers will count.

China has been a major world power for quite some time. If America ever falls it will be from within, like selling our ports, shopping malls, assembly plants, undeveloped land, etc. to anyone with a checkbook. In short, greed will be the root cause of America's downfall if it ever comes. We can survive external and internal enemies, but the dollar is our weak spot.

You can never be sure who will be the downfall of the United States but you CAN be sure of this: it would be a selfish and very foolish action causing the planet to break out in nuclear war to overtake the number one military ranking country. Even if China ended up on top, there would be nothing left on the earth to be on top of.

No I do not think that China will cause the U.S. to demise. What will do it is greed, non-chalent attitudes and not retaining the same values our fore fathers had which built America to where it is. This goes for Canada, U.K., and Australia too . "Rights" have replaced "privileges" and wants have replaced needs. Selfishness is the rule and benevolence (giving to others) is frowned upon. All take and no give = demise.

Only the US can cause the US to fail.

No I'm not just being an ignorant liberal who hates the US. I just think that our own policies and failure to protect ourselves from within pose a bigger threat than any outside enemies. We can always wage and win wars from outside but how do we deal with the enemies within?

The Chinese won't need to spent a single cent on destroying the US for Americans will destroy their own country. In any case, the Chinese have lent too much money to the US, so it wouldn't be in their interest to see their main debtor crumble and die.

No. I think the United States are quite capable of doing it on their own without any outside assistance.

I'm not sure that war is what we have to worry about with China. What concerns me is that they carry most of our country's debt and if they decided not to buy our bonds American would default on its debt.

chinas already more powerful than us, they just dont feel the need to flex their muscles like we do, the reason i say their more powerful is cause they have the largest population in the world, and if we went to war thay would probably win, cuz neither of us would drop any big bombs, out of the fear of the others retaliation
