I need to know for my belt test coming up and i cant find it anywhere!

The name Okinawa means "rope in the open sea", a fairly apt description of this long stretch of islands between mainland Japan and Taiwan.

Okinawa is the southern most island in Japan. There are actually a few islands very close to together. There is a American army base on the main island. Okinawa is considered a prefecture- like a state.
