I am creating a PowerPoint presentation for tomorrow. What I need to know is,...how can I add sound for about 20-25 slides while I am showing photographs of a charity dance that we hosted this weekend? There is no need for me to speak during this part; however, I would like the audience to be entertained.

I do not want the music to go the entire length of the presentation, just for the duration of the dance segment.

Anyone who can help? I would really appreciate it! Thanks.

What you want to do is possible. The process differs slightly depending upon which version of powerpoint you are using. But here is a desciption for the 2003 version of ppt

Click Insert > Sound > Sound From File > Select the File > OK

Get it to play "automatically"

Click the sound object that now appeared on the slide > Click Sideshow at the top of the screen > click custom animation > click on the sound file in the custom animation menu > right click and go to effect options

in the effect options there will be options that allow you to control when to start playing the song and when to stop playing it

I would recommend making a picture slide show with Windows Movie maker, then inserting it into the slide. It's easy as hell, and less complex. Otherwise...

1. Go to Insert, Movies and Sounds, Sound from File.
2. On your right hand side, you'll see the song labeled as media (something). Click on the down arrow next to it.
3. Click on Timing, and choose the Effect tab. You can play with it from there and tweak what you need.

IMPORTANT: The song needs to be available on the computer you are you are showing it on. So, if you're using a lap top, you're good. If not, you'll need to bring the song and load it onto the computer your going to use.

If you have other questions, just email me.
