It's an agriculture/sort of hippie Girl/Boy scout club.
Basically, you do a wide variety of things. My club in grade school showed animals (cows, horses, pigs, chickens), learned how to bake homemade pies, breads, and treats, learned to sew and do crafts. You also do a bunch of volunteer projects.
It for the kid who likes to do-it-yourself. I think growing up as part of it definitely helped with some simple life skills. It's worth looking into and going to a couple meetings, I enjoyed it.

It is an educational organization for youth from the age of 5 up to 19 years old. Each state sponsors the 4-H program, usually through an extension office of a State University.
The 4 'H's are- Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.
The program enables youth to learn by doing - 'hands on'. It also helps foster responsibility, confidence, courtesy, and compassion. Many people think that 4-H is only animals, but the opportunities for learning range from computers to rockets, along with shooting sports, photography, sewing, cooking, horticulture, and community service, to name a few.
It is an awesome program for all youth, whether they live on a farm or in the city.
