What kicks farther: a soccer ball or a football?
Seeing that they both weigh approximately 13-16 ounces each, I was wondering that giving the shape of each, which would go farther given the same amount of force is applied to each and kicked properly.

I think its American football goes further away than soccer ball because of its oval shape. The American football will have less amount of air Resistance than the soccer ball because of its aerodynamic shape.

I think it would depend on whether it is "place kicked" or "punted."
But given that are both kicked with the same amount of force in the same style I would have to guess the "soccer ball."
Due to the fact that there are to many variable factors to consider when trying to calculate the physics involved, I am relying on years of watching both sports. I have seen on more than one occasion a goal keeper kick a soccer ball nearly the full length of a soccer field. But I have yet to see a football kicker come anywhere near that distance.

I could be wrong of course.

Load em up in a Callibrated Air Piston and the difference is so miniscule as to not really matter.
The leg that kicks it, and the winds that are blowing are the determining factor.
Scientifically, the Air Piston test would show you that the most Aerodynamic will travel the furthest. That is Artillery 101.

I would say that largely depends on who's doing the kicking! You'd have to get a couple of pro athletes from each of the two sports go head to head and have a kick off contest. That is the only way to tell!

It is pretty close based on long field goals and normal goal kicks. I think a soccer ball goes a little further though.

I'd have to say either one can go farther, it depends on the kickers strength of their leg as to how far it is going to go
