when i was 16 weeks, the lady doing my ultrasound said that my baby weighed 8 oz's when @ the time they are only suppose to weigh the most 4.5 oz's. Then she said " Either i measured wrong or your babies head is really big" Scary thought. haha. But i have been having bad pains all the time, and some one said that i could be having a big baby. How do you know ? I have felt fetal movement since 14 weeks, and he kicks like a mad man, could this be a sign of having a big baby, or is it all in my head.?

i wouldn't worry right now. it's common for the measurements of the baby not to be accurate. my son weighed 10lbs. 6oz. at birth, just 2 days before i had him they measured him at 8lbs. 1oz. although for you it is the opposite, i'm sure the measurements can be wrong just the same. it'll all work out, try not to stress out about it. it's not good for you or the baby. good luck and congrats on the bundle of joy!

The doctors can't really give you the baby's weight, especially if you are in the second trimester. The doctors can give you an estimate weight of the baby more towards your last few weeks of pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my son, everyone thought I was going to have a big baby - even the doctor because I was so hugh. But when I gave birth the baby was a healthy 7 lbs 11 oz and 22 inches. My sister in law was pregnant at the same time as me and she carried small (which it seemed) and she gave birth to a 10 lbs 14 oz baby!!! Go figure.

Having pains here and there are normal, because your body is adjusting to the weight and such. However, just to be on the safe side you should phone your doctor to make sure the pain is nothing else. Also, having a baby kicking a lot is a great sign because the baby is healthy.

Good luck to you.

You could be having a big baby, especially if babies in your family are genetically inclined that way--ask your family members and the family members of the baby's father what the average birth weight/size of children in the families has been--or if you are a diabetic. Macrosomia (the name of the disorder that causes large babies) is very common in diabetic or hypoglycemic women.

It's also possible that you're carrying a perfectly normal-sized baby and that they've gotten your conception date wrong. Talk to your doctor about whether or not that's possible.

For a start, she measured wrong. Secondly, even if they measure accurately they can still be wildly incorrect. And to be honest, if they think you are having a large baby they should keep their mouth shut. No woman needs to be concentrating on the size of their baby while they are in labor. I'm 40 weeks and had to go for a scan last week and my midwife told the scan operator that she should definately NOT tell me the suspected size of my baby. Hopefully I'll find out VERY soon!
Best wishes.

it could be that your having a big baby but then again some women feel movements earlier than others..its hard to tell even from ultrasounds to exactly how big your baby will be...if your showing earlier or towards the end you look like you are carrying twins that can be a sign also but it could mean that you just have alot of fluid..with my first i looked like i was carrying twins and she was 10 pounds and 1 ounch at birth, with my second i looked the same, like i was having twins and he only ended up being 7 pounds and 14 ounches...you wont know for sure until you give birth..the doctors only guess but they dont realy know for sure...good luck!

So long as you are healthy ,You will be fine ,big baby's still come out ,and mostly our body wont let the baby be too big to deliver,Gestational Diabetes cause big baby's so have your blood sugar checked and talk to the doctor ,they can tell after 14 weeks how the growth is going, all so are you sure about your dates? you could just be further along than you think.

My son became born 9 lbs 14 oz. (he purely grew to develop into 3 very last week). even as i became pregnant with him, I had the recurring blood glucose attempt (a million hr). even though it got here up truly better so i became ordered to come back decrease back, and this time it became going to be 3 hours. That 3 hour attempt got here decrease back negative. I actually have 10 month previous twins now. even as i became pregnant with them, I purely had the a million hour attempt. That got here decrease back common so I had no favor for further finding out.
