You should tell his parents. The loss of a family member is so utterly devastating and it might even be good for him to take a sort of... therapy "retreat." In the end, when he gets through this and has years of happy life ahead of him, he will thank you. Do the right thing. If his parents don't take you seriously, it's also okay to call the cops.
Meanwhile, after you've told people, spend time with him. Listen to him. Encourage him to do things like write down memories. Remind him that his little brother would want him to live. Just be there, showing him that in such a terrible time, there is the light of your love.

I agree with the others on this one u seriously need to let his parents or at least an adult know what hes thinking about doing. if u value Ur friends life then get him some help

Tell his parents about his threat and get him help. He is mentally unstable right now, could because of the death or the death has trigger a mental illness.
If he does it is not your fault, he knowingly has made the decision, if he isn't mentally ill, then he is accountable for his actions and no one else is.

if your in school... tell a counsler so he can get help... you really just need to get him help even if it means telling his parents... he might be mad at you for telling... but he will thank you in the end...

you need to tell an adult, someone who has authority, you're friend needs help, please don't under estimate him, and think he won't do it, try calling one of those suicide hotlines and they can give you assistance. Don't stop yelling for help for him until someone listens!
