its amazing how the human mind works...even and especially in toddlers. they pick up all things with seemingly little effort. Introduce them to all sorts of things and don't do the goo goo gah gah thing.

You can't teach anyone how to learn.
Everyone can learn - it is an inbuilt human ability. How it works differs from person to person.

Only the person can choose to learn, and a teacher encourages them to choose to learn.

Once the student has chosen to learn, there are many ways to teach depending on the student's learning style, the teacher's learning style, the subject matter, etc.

The assumption that people can be taught how to learn is incorrect. They can be taught many things once they choose to learn.

Wow! to answer this question. i have always asked myself too.. but when comes to think about it I've made up conclusion. child won't learn unless if they want to. if the subject or matter is not interesting they will just ignore it. so make sure that your teaching is always fun and suitable for all cognitive level. who wants to learn if it is not interesting.. there are better things to do than studying because children loves to play around.
