The Nixon question has been answered and I have no idea what 'started' the Vietnam war or any other war for that matter.

America was involved in Vietnam way before the French defeat at Ðiện Biên Phủ in 1954. The following links should give you enough details about the conflict in Vietnam.

Wow, some nutjobs answering. Nutjob #2 is correct on one thing, Nixon was not impeached. The only two presidents to be impeached were Andrew Johnson (just after the Civil War) and Bill Clinton. Neither was removed from office (remember impeachment is NOT removal from office). Nixon resigned when he was told there wre enough votes in the house to impeach him. The Watergate breakins were not what did him in, it was the follow up efforts to try to hide them that were the main complaints against Nixon.

Richard M. Nixon resigned from office after he was brought up on impeachment charges that he was covering up a botched break in at the Watergate hotel. The breakin was to attain the voting ballots and to asses the presidental election race.

Now, as for the start of Vietnam, we had sent in what we called "advisors", (that is US military personel who are officialy not doing the direct fighting, but are training the other soldiers), after the French Army was defeated at the massacre of Dein Bien Phu, in 1958 or 1959. We, (the US Army), had a running troop strength 5,000 personel untill 1963. In '63, a incident occured in the Gulf of Tonkin, which was a firing upon of some US Naval ship. As a direct result of the incident, President Johnson announced the first of numberous esclations in the conflict. When the esclation occured, the troop strength multiplied from 5,000 to 85,000 in a period of only 5 months.

Did that awnser your question?

Nixon was never impeached. He resigned. And the Viet Nam war started? It always was a conflict over there ever since the French Foreign Legion invaded, but officially it was around 1962, our troops were only there to train them to defend themselves against the Chinese Communists. But it turned into a War after Kennedy died with our troops to be an active force when Lyndon Baines Johnson was President and after Johnson resigned himself to not running again and handed over his title literally to the Republicans then after many protests and exhausted expense and the formulation of the oil rights with the Arabs only then did Nixon call a halt to the action and started bringing our soldiers home that was entirely a conspiracy to end our country and we did nothing about it then and we are still doing nothing with Bush in Iraq. The Republicans take credit for bringing hostages home from Iran, they take credit for everything. My question is where is the credit when we are broke and we are bringing our people home in body bags everytime they are attempting to recreate the New World Order from the Third Reich. It was never the best idea and it still isnt. When will they get it through their heads that change is never good when you lie and use humans as guinea pigs and above all waste their lives in a War?

Nixon was impeached for the Watergate Scandal, where he had people from within hi cabinet sneek in to the hotel and got caught trying to steal documents pertaining to his administration. The Vietnam conflict was started over a bet by Lyndon Johnson and The Catholic church which helped to fund it. Or atleast that is what the conspiracy says
