Eventually it will cause problems, because the moss is slowly eating the roofing. A fairly easy and cheap way to fix it is with a zinc strip that is sold for that purpose. The Zinc comes in a roll, about 4" wide by 30' long. You tuck the zinc up under the top row of shingles, and nail it down. When it rains, the zinc is slowly washed off, killing the moss and preventing new growth.

moss growth is normal on the east and north side of roof like u said no sun. does this side also have a shade tree or two?? your shingles must be over 10 yrs. of age. the majority of shingle produced today are sstain and or algae resistant usuallyfor the first ten yrs. there is cleaners available and or one part bleach with five parts water to pump spray on the roof, let it set awhile and wash off withwater. the roof with the moss and or bleach solution will be slippery. DO NOT USE PRESSURE WASHER UNLESS IT IS LOW PRESSURE. HIGH PRESSURE WILL WASH THE SHINGLE GRANDUAL OFF.

It wouls be an idea to clean it off. I agree with the guy above who said its not a problem now, but it can become one later. Its quite likely to make your house (more importantly your roof) damp. It could also in future make your roofing timbers rot due to the moisture retained by the moss.

this question is proper to roofs that are tiled, and not of a slate shape, or certainly thatched!!! in the days of early radio, a copper cord replaced into strung out, around the roof, gable end, to gable end. This replaced into the aerial, for reception indicators. as a results of fact the rain got here down, the water washed over the copper cord, and the chemical components left a action picture of copper on the roof, which destroyed the lichen which you have on your tiles now. additionally. please word that the advance is basically on one fringe of your roof....the north edge !!!

I would say it definitely could be. Moss would indicate moisture and if that's the case, it could be getting inside the house. You might want to check the interior for rot.
