The answer in this case is no. DMVs across the country have 2 sharing "compacts" (contracts). One is to make sure they don't duplicate records, and the other is if you earn points out of sate, your home state will be notified. CA is in the former, but NOT in the latter.

However, you should ask your local DMV to make absolutely sure. :)

It depends on what kind of points. Points that go against your license for the purpose of eventually revoking your license are generally only in your state. I got a ticket in NC, but that doesn't count against the CO drivers license points system.

But there is a something called the National Insurance Database where, along with Choicepoint and some other data gathering agencies, you insurance company can check your driving history. They can use your ticket to increase your rates. If they do raise your rates, you can usually get a teaser rate for the first year by swtiching companies.

it depends. theres a good chance your points won't carry for the purposes of motor vehicle surcharges and points toward loss of your license. for the purposes of insurance, it may not be an exact transfer, but you'll have to disclose the ticket, and you'l get a bump up equivelent to what you would have gotten had you gotten the ticket in your home state.
