Obviously US is not the greatest country to live lol... especially they are in war right now. There is no such country that is the kingdom of heaven here on earth and don't forget equality of opportunity will have inequality of condition. I think a great country is really difficult to define, it is really depending on who you ask, seriously. Example, some people don't like advance industrial country, and some people like to live with nature, and some people like to live away from the pollution, data signal etc... Some country is not rich (eg. Tibet) but people having a really peaceful and happy life there.

It depends in what sense. This could very well be an opinion question.
US does have the strongest currency, but that doesn't necesseraly make people happy. Marketing and business wise, it's a great place because Americans are huge consumers and like to spend a lot of money.
And i also get tired of people still bragging about freedom and they make it sound like it's the only place on earth with this kind of freedom. Well, today, most countries have this kind of freedom. It's great, but no need to brag. You are not alone.
Do you want more freedom status? Let gay people get married.

No. I don't think there is any place that is the greatest country. All countries have upsides and downsides. Some more up then down and vise versa. Also I've never experinced life in any other country so for me to state that America is better is a bit arrogent.

define what the greatest country should have. should the greatest country be free of political corrution, have affordable health care for the masses, good education, a democratic system whereas the people get to decide exactly how the government runs, to have the country be free of a motive of a combining of politics and religion, complete seperation of church and state, the list goes on............so define what great is and then and only then will I have an answer for you.

I think a place like the Bahamas or Bermuda would be the greatest country on earth. It's where I'd love to live. I'll take sipping margaritas on a tropical beach any day

Need definition or in which category to put USA in.
Each country has pluses and minuses.
I think USA is very special, and also difficult place to live in.
I can't force anyone to think USA is greatest in all categories, but possibly 5 or 6.

What do you mean by greatest? We are the richest (per person), fatest, and most hated by country, but we arent the biggest, (land area) biggest (population), most friendly, smartest, biggest coast line, or other things. WHAT DOES "GREATEST COUNTRY" MEAN???

There are GREAT PEOPLE in the USA; there are great people everywhere.
What makes a country "great" is that there is sufficient options to "better" oneself & to live in common with each other.
Good question...............
Merry Christmas!
