Murals...so you're going to be working with airbrush acrylics, or perhaps AutoAir (water based automotive paint that would work for murals as well, not as tender as airbrush acrylics...any paint will have to be varnished afterwards).
I have run the gamut, mostly, with airbrushes. I have found Iwata to be an excellent product, and reasonably priced. The new Kustom Series has a larger gravity feed cup (all double action, no single action.. and please stay away from single action...I find 'em useless)...so one of those might be good...so would an Eclipse, or an HP-C+. I, personally, prefer gravity feed airbrushes vs. siphon feed. The biggest drawback with any airbrush (short of a touch up gun) will be covering larger areas. The Eclipse kicks out more paint than the HP-C+ (I believe it was designed to be a t-shirt airbrush)...so one of those might be best. You can still get great detail with it. So yeah, I would go with the Eclipse.
Nice thing about Iwata, is they're all teflon packed (meaning, whatever kind of airbrush paint you're shooting and whatever you clean it with...it won't eat the o-rngs). They're constantly redeveloping their product via customer feedback (things like longer triggers to reduce finger fatigue, etc)...they're chromed throughout...easier to clean, and will last longer.
I was turned onto Iwata's through some pretty amazing airbrush artists...and they're now my airbrush of choice...I have 4....two HP-C's, a Micron CP-C, and a W-101 touch up gun.
Now...where to get? First of all, if there's any more detail you need, more recommendations, or questions regarding specific products...I would talk to Dave Monnig or one of his associates at Coast Airbrush. Airbrush is all they do. Nice people, pretty good pricing, and the most knowledgeable people out there concerning all things airbrush. Looking for an airsource? Tell em what you want to do (all the things), and which airbrush you're looking at - plus your budget...and they're sure to come up with something for you. (toll free number on the site, or you can contact them by e-mail)
Paint? Coast has it all.... but I buy a lot of my equipment/paint from Dixie, out of New Orleans.
Oh, I did some research on painting murals, Golden paints has a how to site online. Just query how to paint a mural, and it'll come up. They had some nice tips.
