Hi,
I am looking for a *very basic* branded PC for my parents, to be used mostly for browsing and voice chats. We would also like good after sales service. (Although assembled PCs offer better value, I am NOT interested in them)
Few questions in this regard
1. How much does a basic branded PC typically cost?
2. Any particular brand/model you can recommend?
3. Any promotions that you are aware of?
4. Anything else I should consider.
Thanks in advance. You guys rock!

Nate and like are right. Go with Dell. You can go online, and tailor it exactly to your needs. Additionally, wait for Dell to have a sale on stuff. When i got my most recent laptop, they were running a sale where you took 35% off the final price nomatter what you put into it. They run great sales like that about 4 or 5 times a year, I wouldn't be to surprised if they were doing something for christmas this month

the price will depend on your location. as for the specifications u have stated, u will get a very good one from "AmarPC" - for arround Rs. 9000, u can also go for a new intel base pc, which costs arround Rs.6000. u will have to fit on the camera and speakers and mic, that should be another 1000. but will work fine for wht u hv asked 4

If you are in India,
Try Sahara, and HCL. These are quite cheap and good enough. Just ensure that you do not take a PC that has a motherboard and processor that is end-of-life or near-end-of-life as support may become an issue later on for such cases.

once you're taling college, till you're taking laptop technology i could propose a Mac. by way of simplicity of use and the shortcoming of issues that have a tendency to pass incorrect with a mac. whether I incredibly have had sturdy experiances with a Gateway, HP, and Compaq computers in the previous. HP may well be sketchy at situations with there help while issues pass incorrect.
