The Orient is a land mass, not a cultural tradition. The Orient is a place - from Turkey to Russia in the west, from Afghanistan to China in the east.

There are no oriental people. There are oriental lampshades and oriental rugs, but no Oriental populations, people from Oriental countries are Asiatic - not Oriental.

I am Australian. Can you tell me of the characteristics of Australianism?
