Good for you! I admire the fact that you want to improve yourself. And table manners are important. There are lots of sites to help you, including this one:

I think the best way might be to confind in a trusted friend with the table manners you admire. Maybe he or she would give you a few pointers. And before you take your manners out in public, practice at home!

Emily Post wrote several books on the subject. Movies from the 40's are also a great way to learn table manners and basic courtesy. The old TV shows were great too....Father knows Best, Donna Reid, etc.
Good for you for wanting to have good manners!

There are lots of etiquette books available, and etiquette classes are often available at your local Jr. College, I sent my daughters to etiquette classes, when they where 12, mostly the classes dealt with table manners, only 6 sessions, and they have perfect table manners. Check out local classes, they have ones for adults,[business often send employees to these], because many adults where never taught the basics at home and need these skills for business occasions, believe me, you won't be a lone in these classes, and they will serve you well for the rest of your life, and boost your confidence!!!!

Well at least you realize you're lacking in this area, that's a big start. The best way to learn anything is by watching. I'm sure you're not in the category of shoveling it in with your hands, so starting with the next time your eating a meal with others watch what they are doing. Does it look right to you, is it something you would be comfortable doing yourself? Before you know it you will be mimicking them and you'll be feeling like you fit right in.

My advice is to at least be familiar with the basics, it comes in handy ;) However, don't worry about them too much, most people don't in this day and age.
