The key to factorizing quadratic equations is splitting the middle term.
So 5x in the first expression can be split as 6x-1x

Similarly -4x in the second expression can be split as 3x-7x

so the factors would be

3x.x + 5x - 2 = (3x-1)(x+2)

x.x - 4x - 21 = (x+3)(x-7)

3x.x + 5x - 2 = 3x.x + 3x + 2x - 2
= 3x ( x + 1 ) - 2 ( x + 1 )
= (3X - 2 ) ( x + 1 )
x.x - 4x - 21 = x. x - 7x + 3x _ 21
= x ( x - 7 ) + 3 ( x - 7 )
= ( x + 3 ) ( x - 7)

i'd say ask the professor or someone in the class; or just figure it out yourself instead of trying to take the easy way out.
