Do African Americans cry racism so that they can get free money or other benefits?

Why else would African Americans care what people say when they have many opportunities in life? Are you tired of the whining and complaining. Maybe you would earn some more respect if you just shut your mouth, did your job, and be a productive citizen.

The funny part is that all the people that brought slaves to this country are dead. All the slave owners who beat and misused their slaves are dead. Long Dead! I have never nor would I ever advocate slavery, nor would anyone I know. Black people need to move on and stop using this as an excuse. The slavers are all dead!!!! Why isn't that enough? The world is as much theirs as anyone else. They need to get off their lazy asses and take it for all it's worth. Get off the "poor us" wagon!

If African Americans are crying racism, it is because racism is still there to be found. It is more subtle now, but it is still found in the comments of ostensibly intelligent people who continue to live in the old, bankrupt stereotypes of a bygone era. It might be called white flight, not in my backyard, the good ol' boy or girl network or just in the snide comments of local professionals in small towns, but it is still there.

It has only been fifty years, give or take a few years, since African Americans have started to be able to function as American citizens equal to everyone else. Before this there was about four hundred years of oppression, first under slavery and then under the Jim Crow era. Racism takes a lot of work to eradicate because people have to change generations of erroneous thinking. We're not there yet, and your question is just another example of how far we've got to go.

This discussion you felt needed an audience is offensive and ignorant and most likely has served its purpose by only being hurtful and negative. You probably secretly love black women and wish you were better equipped in the penis department. You are jealous and simple minded. YOU are why abortions are legal.

Next on your ignorant list of thoughts will most likely be how Asian people are taking up all the seats in the colleges and how white people can’t get a descent education. And then you will talk about how Mexicans keep multiplying and taking all the jobs from hard working white Americans. When in fact, your weaknesses are excuses and in my eyes are considered laziness. I pray you fall in love with an African American and spend your life experiencing first hand their culture and work ethic and see the silent hints of racism and the loud offensive ignorant statements such as this. I pray your children are called racist names and your weak pathetic self has to find the strength to teach them kindness and morals. I pray you walk slowly in the shoes of the men and women you have insulted. I pray you see your misguided ignorance and apologize for your stupidity.

We are all the same, regardless of color. There is someone in every race and family that should do better but does not.

You have got to be kidding. Do you even realize how ignorant this question sounds? I assume you are referring to the Michael Richards incident in particular. There's no one in the world who could have viewed that tape and not clearly see that the garbage that came out of Michael Richard's mouth was his deep seating, lifelong racist feelings. The men who heckled him were not responsible for that being turned into a racial incident - Michael Richards was. Since that was his reaction and he was stupid enough to do it on tape for the world to see the he deserves whatever happens to him. The incident has been turned into public emnbarrassment for the men that he addressed it to so I hope he is sued for every dollar that he has ever made. Apply the same question that you asked to Jewish Americans. Why did they care about what Mel Gibson said when he ws arrested. It's the same thing. He was anti-semetic and will be deservingly labelled as such for the rest of his life. Freedom of speech costs a lot. You do not have the rightto say anything that you want if it is hateful and mean spirited and think that you will not pay the piper. Both Michael Richards and Mel Gibson brought all of this on themselves and they deserve whatever is coming to them. Maybe they both should have taken your advice and just shut their mouths and they could have kept the respect they had already earned. Instead they've both lost respect and hopefully a lot of money.

Yep so true. I'm not racist by far. In fact my husband is biracial but he will even admit to you that African Americans need to get over this racism crap and move on. It's almost 2007 and we all have equal rights. I don't cry freakin' racism when I hear the term cracker or honkey or t.v. all the damn time. Get over it!
