Just be in the right place at the right time. I know it sounds kinda lame but that is how I have gotten backstage, autographed guitars, photos and etc. A GOOD hint is dont just listen to the radio station visit them, get to know them, go to their booths at conventions, rodeos, fairgrounds, etc. When they start to recognize you, they will start to RECOGNIZE you, get it?

I met Dave Cowens and Nate Archibald of the Boston Celtics while working at the hospital where their team doctor was based.

I met Katherine Ross (actress, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) at Fenway Park.

I met Mickey Hart (drummer for Grateful Dead) while grabbing a pizza across the street from the Beacon Theare in NYC after a YES concert.

I've had a few other meetings I keep private.

It happens. I think I had a better opportunity than some, living in and then near Boston my whole life.

It can depend on the celebrity and where you want to try to meet them. Some friends of mine got to meet Vincent Kartheiser outside the theater after he'd been in a play, my dad met Patricia Arquette in a gas station and my stepmother once met Andy Kauffman in a comic book store in Santa Cruz, CA. Going to conventions, as geeky as people think it is, is actually a great way to meet the actors, writers, directors, etc., of television shows, movies and comic books that you like.

Aside from what the others' have said, it also depends on where you live. For example, if you live in Mansfield, OH you're a lot less likely to meet someone famous than if you lived in Los Angeles, NYC, or some other big city.

Yeah. I met Bam Margera and asked him to slap me in the face. He did! Now I'm on the Viva la Bam DVD.
