Yes. Denver is the capital of Colorado. On one specific step of the capital building, you are exactly 5,280 feet above sea level, which is exactly a mile high. The rest of the city varies between just under to just over a mile high.

Downtown Denver is slightly less than 5280 feet (one statute mile or 1609 meters) above sea level, while most of the rest of the town is above 5280 feet. Over the years, various vertical surveys and adjustments to the Geoid have raised or lowered the measured elevation of Denver a couple feet, so the city just uses 5280 feet as its official elevation, regardless of which step of the Colorado State Capitol the mile-high elevation corresponds with.

The capital step isn't the only indication of the mile high elevation. Ever see the ring of purple seats at Coors Field? Yup...one mile high.

it really depends on where you're standing but yes it is one mile high. there is actually a step on the capitol building marking where it is one mile high. occasionally they have to move the marker to another step because of earth shifting, but it is pretty much one mile high.

No. But if you go up the steps of the capital, a little marker tells you when you finally get there.
