people are survivors of many things one being child abuse. the folowing song was on the radio in 1988 it is based on the true story of a little girl named Lisa Steinburg who was 6 years old and killed by her parents. Sadly this occurs more often than you think if you would like to here the sing that 9 year old Sharon batts sang click this link and say a prayer for all the children and adult survivors http://www.kids-teens.org/Stories/mr_jesus.htm

I am a survivor of child abuse and the loss of a child. Life is hard but we keep on God never gives me more than I can handle I thought the death of my oldest daughter was going to me the death of me but I had to survive for my remaining children and now I try to offer support to others. What ever doesn't kill you just makes you stronger

I agree falling leaves what puzzles ne they say those abused as children grow up to be abusers maybe some but I would think you would know how that feels and be more aware of abusing your own children the cycle must stop!

Some would say this doesn't count, but for me it does, I am an addict and am trying my hardest to stay in recovery (or survive).

i am a survivor, of many things. true what does not kill you can indeed make you stronger but it can also make some bitter and lonely, or abusive themselves. if it does then you really did not survive, they won. but most i think dig through the pain (of whatever they had to survive) and win. while still hurting they live a productive loving life ( by productive i don't mean famous or rich). many times they are far more caring, empathic, compassionate than those who did not have to fight to live and survive. for all, i wish them to be a name not a statistic and number.

I am a survivor of an alcoholic father and an abusive marriage.
God is good and I know that I was carried through, protected by an unseen force, no doubt.

1. I buried my parents (with my siblings) as a very young woman.
2. I survived a short disaster of a marriage to a Violent, Abusive, Mentally Ill Ex-Spouse (and purchased my way out of that situation by giving up everything that I worked for and that my parents left me to gain my Freedom).
3. I filed the police report and demanded that my ex-spouse be charged (and was convicted) of child abuse in the year following the divorce (at least he was convicted of that -- and they did nothing to convict him of the thefts of my property, the stalking, the damage to my car, etc).
4. 6 years after the divorce -- I found out the ex-spouse was using MY IDENTITY To his financial gain -- I File Police Reports again (have been doing this all along). He gets convicted of this the next year.
5. I raise my children ALONE as a Long-Term Single Parent with the ex as a Deadbeat Dad. He quits work (or gets fired -- still don't know that answer), and while he is receiving Unemployment Insurance Payments, he drives over 2,000 miles to stalk MY HOME, continue his threats and abuse, and continue to damage my property.
6. Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis
7. It is now 2006, and behind my back, he contacted my (now) adult children -- and one of them assaults/batters me in May 2006 because I found this out, and wanted to be safe from threats and terror -- I press charges against this soon to be adult child.
8. The caseworker for the child I pressed charges against, goes out of their way to NOT ONLY Violate my Restraining Orders, but to allow the Child I pressed charges against to have Unsupervised, Unmonitored Visitation with the ex -- and in August 2006 -- MY HOME was BURGLARIZED by the Ex and this CHILD WILLINGLY HELPED HIM BURGLARIZE the home. I press Charges against the Ex, the Child, and DEMAND Prosecution -- especially since he left EVIDENCE in the home that he was intending to come back and harm me as well as continue burglarizing my home.
9. I tell the judge I do NOT want the Burglar any more in my home -- and the Caseworker releases this one to the Ex (the other Burglar!).
10. I file a report against the Caseworker (who was aware of the burglary as it was happening and let them leave my state with MY Property), the Judge (who in his own words "I don't see the threat"), and am STILL trying to get the police OFF Their BACK SIDES to ARREST This ex -- he DID admit in court that he IS stealing my identity (and he was AGAIN arrested by the Federal Police this time for Identity Theft), yet ...
There is STILL no protection for me against further abuse, re-re-victimization, etc.
I KNOW that I will survive -- because I do WALK AWAY ( and I have SURVIVED abuse at the hands of BOTH the ex and the child ), beatings that included kicking me, stomping on me, hitting me, and (this was the child), she picked up the leather belt from her jeans and whipped me repeatedly.
I can ONLY keep pushing for them to be CHARGED -- and if the police take no action -- then there is NO HOPE of them ever going to jail. I know that Domestic Violence is NOT treated with concern for the Victims -- that is a FACT. But to be ignored, and the evidence is there -- well that is sickening to the extreme.
