what does the error 34 short paper mean?

error 34 short paper keeps coming up on my lexmark Optra S 1855 laser printer, this only happens when I try print envelopes. what does this erroe mean? and how do I fix it?

it's either that the papers are short and the printer can't pull them , or it's not installed properly

The printer isn't set to take envelopes. You need to change a setting in the printer to make sure it is ready to accept envelopes. It is saying that because the envelopes are shorter than normal pieces of paper.
