Here's a great idea; go to a cologne store and find a fragrance for him. I know I would appreciate the gesture as long as you told me how much the smell drives you wild!
Have fun with it. My GF got me my scent and now I don't have to smell like the crap I was wearing without her help.
We all know, like it or not, cheap is not the way to go.
Find something you like and drop at least around $50.

A Stanley tri-pod worklight. Looks great, functionality out the wazoo. That's what I want, probably get some alpaca multi striped turtleneck sweater because that is what she wants me to have.

Some books (something related to work, hobbies or casual reading).
Something sports related (tote bag, pullover, ball cap). You'll just need to figure out the team.
Something for the car (roadside emergency kit, first aid kit).
DVD of movie I like.
CD of music I like.
