I HOPE NOT! I'm getting near there and don't have any kids yet, but I always wanted at least 1!
As far as advantages go: I'm more mature, more settled, have more patience, have a more stable, secure environment for my child...
Disadvantages: like White Crane said...I'm not so young anymore, so chasing after a toddler is going to be murder, and doing all of the carpooling, and going through all of the emotional rollercoasters of teenagedom will probably give me a stroke!
I think if you love your child, it doesn't really matter how old you are though! There are many grandparents raising their kids kids nowadays, as well as kids having kids, and doing a decent job with them!
The only other thing that I can think of as far as this topic goes is the higher rate of birth defects of children from older women, but they have all kinds of tests for that so...
Good luck!!!

I had my second child when I was just short of my 35 birthday. I had my third 6 months ago. I'm 37. The advantages to having your kids a little late in the game would be, usually by then you have grown up and are ready for the responsibility, you are more financially secure. Disadvantages would be, health wise it can be more dangerous to have a baby when you're older. I worry about how long I will " be here " to take care of my kids but I guess that could happen at any time. I think alot about how old I will be when my last one starts kindergarten let alone highschool! Will I be Physically able to do things with them while they are still young? Don't get me wrong though, I wouldn't change a thing!

My parents were a bit younger (36) when I was born, but they say they are glad they waited. As the child, I can tell you that sometimes it is harder when your parents are a bit older than everyone else's parents, but I have seen so many people (including my own parents) that waited til the late 30's or 40ish and are much better parents than people in their 20's and early 30's. It all depends on the people, there are no clear cut advantages and disadvantages, I don't think.

The normal "cut off" date for a woman to have a baby is late 40's. Mainly because it is harder to cenceive. I don't know what the biggest reason is, but that's the so called "cut off" date. My aunt had a hard time conceiving and she was in her late 30's early 40's trying to get pregnant, but this is also because she had only one ovary that was good. Her and her husband ended up adopting. But if you have both ovaries, you could be able to get pregnant if trying at the correct times.

It's not too old if your body can handle it. But the risk of having a child with Down's Syndrome increases around the age of 40.
