He offered an explanation for his remarks and an apology for losing control, but not really an apology to the people that he offended.
I would accept his apology, but I didn't think he needed to offer one.
Hecklers need to be crushed quickly and the only way you can do that is to attack the obvious. These guys were black, so that's what he did. This was an adult show and if you engage the comedian, you should expect whatever comes back at you.
If the guys were fat, he could have said that, but no one would have been in a tizzy over that. They could have been gay, old, ugly, or poorly dressed, but the first thing he saw was that they were black. He should have had the guts to stand by his own comments however reprehensible and waved the banner of artistic freedom.
I don't agree with what he said, but I wouldn't hold it against him.
Going on Jesse Jackson's show was the best thing to happen to Michael Richards. If he would have been on Bill O'Reilly's show, that wouldn't have propelled the DVD sales. Jesse must be pretty steamed now that his call for a boycott made season 7 outsell seasons 5+6 combined.

I don't have anything to forgive him for. The people he slandered are the ones who need to forgive him. I must say though that I thought his remarks were very hateful and I felt like his apology was insincere. Also, Chris Rock is black. Black people don't mind calling each other n****r. Mr. Richards is white. He has no business calling some one that. As strange and stupid and one sided as that may seem.

My opinion is opposite. I watched the video a few times, he is a COMEDIAN and if you don't get the joke, then myob. Blacks are too sensitive that way, because they know they will get sympathy for free cause they love free stuff, especially my tax money.
SAY YOUR SORRY CHRIS ROCK that was uncalled for that was uncalled for that was uncalled for...why some people always repeat themselves, is their brain on a loop
Why does Jessie Jackson jump on someone elces bandwagon at every chance he can

getting angry at someone doesn't suddenly make you a racist. if i get mad at my jewish friend, i don't magically turn into a nazi. he's apologizing for not being able to restrain his thoughts. he should be humbled, and i hope he is. but he's still a racist.
he may have more publicity now, but not good publicity as far as i'm concerned. i never gave the guy a second thought after seinfeld; now he makes me sick. his apology is empty.
i would tell him to stop making excuses and get some help.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeell........I don't see why he felt he had to apologize in the first place. We watched a Chris Rock comedy act the other night and he said the no-no "N" word no less than 30 times......So how come Chris Rock doesn't have to say he's sorry??

I would ask him about what he's been up to after the Seinfeld show ended , if there's plans for him to be on another series, etc. I'd just like to meet the guy - i don't CARE about all that other stuff, come on! we're talking about KRAMER! LOL!

I would accept his apology and move on. He is obviously devastated about it. He made a mistake. I think people really need to get over that.

I am so sick of white people acting like all black people use the n word to refer to ourselves, not you but some of those answering your question answers. I would not have accepted his apology because he did not mean it. Example: I hate rapest. I feel they should be stoned to death by their victems and there famly. "SORRY" but that's the WAY I FEEL. Why should anyone apologize about the way they feel.

I would ask him if he likes cheerios or post toasties better. Then just tell him he's a little on the ugly side.
