to gumdrop girl, if you're still looking at this question: do you know why they eliminated it as a major? at berkeley, are most of the classes for the anthro major more culturally/ethnographically-oriented?

Overall, Berkeley has the BEST anthropology department. HOWEVER, bioanthropology was eliminated as a major back in 1999. So if you MUST do physical anthro, Berkeley might not be your best bet. That pains me to say because I went to Cal, and I always tell people it's great. It really is. But in this case, it might not suit your needs.

I too am a Berkeley student and I have to agree-- we have an incredible Anthro dept (thank you Hearst family!). Cal's Anthro Dep's info on the undergraduate program is posted in sources: that should help you determine whether or not if is a program that you are interested in. I would also suggest emailing the department with any questions that you have-- they would be more than happy to help you out.

I also posted a link to our course catalog so you can get an idea of anthro classes that are offered. I'm sure UCLA has similar things posted around their website.
