we hide behind a pictorial image thats so unlike us and feel safe in that.
Why hide come out with it and ask?
I'm an ugly, angry old man but I admit this and stand by it.

This IS a real picture of me. Take it or leave it. I'm just fine with myself.
There's nothing wrong with cartoon avatars, either. I think they're cute. Calm down and stop getting so irate over something that's not even a big deal.

People subconciously repel what they'd secretly like to attract if they lack confidence in their abilities, looks or intelligence.
In telling us that you're 'ugly, angry, old man' you are subconciously fishing for compliments because you have yet to understand that a healthy sense of self-esteem is not egotistical.

I have mostly not truly been satisfied with myself. but I do love myself though.am always doing things to improve myself in some way big or small. I realize I am not what I should be.but God loves me anyway. and I love God.I am honest. allways have been. I dont lie.if people dont like me I dont care. I wish you the best Sir.

not everyone has mugshot of themselves on their computer.
plus it's fun to have a little cartoon character of yourself.
(I do agree with you that anonymity can ruin the internet, though. I think YouTube is becoming a good medium for seeing what people are really like)
