And of course, Women do not! And it is a myth that they spent small fortunes on 'beauty products' and processes, in not trying to hang onto the physical manifested effects (on men) of their 'younger days.'

Likewise, the 'younger' generation are so satisfied with the life and the system we live within, that they do not complain or try to change things.

They are so happy with the music / film / books etc that they cannot simply spend their leisure time watching / reading etc......

Becoming a 'Grumpy old Sod' has in part to do with the the way that others (the younger generation, for example) behave, or bend the language, show a lack of sympathy, show disrespect and basic bad manners ~ often to everyone.

I get tired of women who expected to be 'treated like a Lady' whilst not themselves behaving like one. So, for some strange reason, I seem to become what might be called 'grumpy' as a result.

Enough reasons there alone, I think.

Sash.

People only get grumpy if they choose to. At 72 I have faced many problems including the loss of my eldest son but I am not grumpy. Life is precious and can be sad or happy good or bad , stuff happens but we do not have to be grumpy. That is a choice and I for one don't choose to be grumpy.

Nobody is satisfied with life, whether man or woman.People want to live for ever and enjoy health, wealth and sex. When you grow old people realise that life cannot be for ever and wants more from the less span of life left. You see the beggar on the road,he has no money,no house ,still he wants to live.even men/women at death bed expect to live. This called"MAYA' or illusion. We are after the illusion always, expecting more satisfaction. If all people are satisfied, the world will end.

Born again Christian men get to be more like Jesus as they get older.

Romans 8:29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

Atheists who have no hope beyond this life get grumpy because they don't have the expectation of eternal life in an imperishable body to look forward to. All they can look forward to is the yawning pit of a cold grave. :o(

1 Corinthians 15:51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. 54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." 55 "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"

Men get grumpy when they are old because they can't do as many social functions. They are used to having to work all their lives, but when they're old they can't. They also have much less power, as they depend more on other people. Whenever men lose power, they get grumpy.

Women do too. It's mostly caused by the fear of not achieving goals before you die and knowing there is more life behind you than in front of you. Women who were beautiful grieve for their lost looks when they see younger women and some woman regret they weren't given the opportunities of "today" in their youth. My beloved mum-in-law died in May and it hurts me to know that she never even rode on a train in her entire life!! She just accepted her role as a wife and mother, even when the kids grew up. In the end, she'd say "I'm too old to do new things now!" I'm proud to be her daughter-in-law and miss her. Age is no barrier to ANYTHING!! Don't miss chances because society says you are past it, too young, not right for the job!!!

I don't think it is just men. I think we all get grumpier as we get older. We lose all of our blinders, seeing the world and others for who they really are. This along with working 50-60 hour weeks, going home and working there to keep up the house and such, kills all warm and fuzzy feelings. Therefore grumpiness ensues!!
