It just seems like there is always some kind of beef between them even with the Frats? What happen to the Greek Unity?

To a large degree I am going to have to agree with my soror! I will also add the following.....the "rivalry" between many individual greek letter organizations members are appropriately placed in chants that are for fun and in step shows and other outlets of HEALTHY competition. Unfortunately, it is the few who practice the more negative aspects of those "rivalries" that receive the bulk of the attention and are seen by the general public. None of our organizations were founded to tear down the other, but for the uplifting of our people and communities as a whole! I have friends that belong to other GLO's and I do not allow the fact that we are in different organizations divide us, as a matter of fact, I believe that if effectually placed, that very difference can assist us in fulling the missions of our organizations and the dreams of our founders. In order for that to completely disappear, there would have to be a meeting of the minds and the locating of a common ground for us all to stand on...which in my mind should not be as difficult as it has become. we as women and men FIRST have to learn to rise to the call that was issued when our organizations were founded! We have to look beyond the letters and see the women and men that we were before the letters became a part of our lives and learn to use them as tools of incorporation rather than division. The reason that has not happened to this date is very simple.....Pride. we have allowed pride to go to a place that it NEVER should....ARROGANCE!!!!, and until that is resolved, the unity that could be and should be between us won't be.

Great question, but I think that it extends past the greek "rivalries" that exists. Why can't young black men and women get along and conquer the issues that are affecting our generation and our communities? Some of the rivalries are rooted in the various organization's history as well as different perspectives of particular events. However, all greeks have lost meaning of what all of our organizations were created for: to help one another and leave a lasting, productive legacy for future generations. If we would ALL get back to basics, cut the bull, and do the business that we were founded to do, greek unity would naturally exist because we would be working to re-build our community.
