I'm hoping an entomologist may know why flies are so persitent and determined - despite being constantly chased away - to rest on humans. What's the attraction and what are they doing once they sit on you?

Flies actually puke on you each and every time they land. This is how they digest the food they eat, they puke on it, and it turns softer, soft enough for them to eat. Of course, we are alive, so their puking is very futile. Actually, it is not puke, but the action is similar to puking.
