I had my son last year at 23, and am due with a daughter in February...I will be 25 by then.
I always wanted to have kids young...not like "teenager in highschool" young, but young enough to be able to do whatever I want physically with my kids. With that said, my son wasn't exactly planned, but wasn't really a mistake either. I was in my last year of University when I had him....I went to school the semester before he was due and finished in December...he was born in April. So I took a semester off before he was born, but took the remaining courses I need that summer online. So I graduated with a degree in Criminology when my son was about 5 months old.
The finances have never really been a problem...my boyfriend and kids' father is a full-time fireman, making very good money, and since long before I graduated I worked for the Canadian government...so we have plenty of money and it has never been a concern.
I don't think there is such a thing as an "appropriate" age for having a baby...if you're financially and emotionally stable enough to handle starting a family...then great - age shouldn't matter! But if you really want to get a college education, etc....then I would suggest holding off on the family until you're done that...because it is definitely hard to go to school while raising a baby. I was lucky that it worked out so well for me. Also, don't wait until you think you have enough money to have a baby...because that day will never come. If you think you can raise a child, go ahead and have one....but if you're flat broke, that's a whole other story.

I had my daughter at the age of 21 I was scared to death we didn't have alot of money and I didn't know how we was going to make it. My husband got 2 jobs along with me working. I started going to college when my daughter was 6 months old I am a nursing major. It is very hard to handle being a mom and wife and college student and also working. We still live pay check to pay check each month my husband works 2 jobs and plus he also goes to school and I also work. We get our bills paid and our daughter now 2 never goes without. Yes it can be done we have done it with out any help. It has turned out great for us I love it I would not change it for anything. Hold your head up high don't let anyone ever bring you down because it will be a long hard rocky road but It can be done. Trust me. Good Luck to you and I hope you keep your head up and keep plugging away.

There is no appropriate age to have a baby, you can have it when you think you are ready to raise a child. I agree with Wonkas answer that is don't wait until you think you have enough money to have a baby because that time or day will never come. Maybe when the time come it's too late for you to have a baby. i'm 26 years old and pregnant with my first child. If you ask me whether am i ready financially not really but i know me and my husband will able to raise our child with pay that we are getting. i can't wait to see my baby.

I had my daughter at 23..I am 25 now.
My parents were surprised, but were happy that they were getting another grandchild (I have 2 nieces also)
I am married to the father of my daughter. He is a wonderful man of course. He and my daughter are both on SSI for reasons I rather not explain on here..while I look for work. We are getting along just fine right now..I would love to stay home and be the parent, but I can't do that, so I do what is best for my family.

Had my first when I was 18, my wife was 16. I didn't worry about my family thought, I had a new family to take care of. Her family didn't want us together, so we ran away until they agreed to accept the fact we were staying together and rasing our child together. I worked 15 to 18 hours a day to support them, so I didn't have time for college. The marriage lasted for 20 years until my wife decided she missed out on too much and asked for a divorce.

I would recommend when you are financially stable, have a good home, I got pregnant when I was 19. I still finished respiratory school. How I made it, I dont know. I just did what I had to do like plenty of other parents like me.

When you can support the child and are mature enough to take on the responsibility. It's a huge thing.
Don't let anyone ever tell you it's something to be taken lightly.
